As part of Marie-Vincent\u2019s 50th anniversary in 2025, we launched a call for nominations to honour exceptional individuals who have shaped our history and contributed to our growth. Throughout the year, these inspiring figures are being highlighted on our digital platforms, as their names are permanently inscribed on a Wall of major contributors at our offices in Montreal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Join us in celebrating these three leaders whose work had changed many lives:<\/span><\/p>\n

Normand Chartrand<\/span><\/h2>\n

Normand Chartrand served on the boards of both the Marie-Vincent Foundation and its Centre d\u2019expertise from 1992 to 2019, an impressive period of 27 years, including a crucial portion as Vice-Chair.<\/span><\/p>\n

He was also part of the group that founded the Centre d\u2019expertise, a defining moment that gave him unique insight into our organisation.<\/span><\/p>\n

His involvement went far beyond the traditional responsibilities of an administrator. During times of transition, he accepted the title of interim director in both the Foundation and the Centre of Expertise, providing stability to both entities.<\/span><\/p>\n

His profound knowledge of governance and on-the-ground realities guided many operational decisions, always in line with Marie-Vincent\u2019s core values.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deeply committed to child protection, Normand Chartrand leveraged his vast network to raise awareness among decision-makers. He also contributed to shaping our policies through several committees and played a concrete role in strengthening our services.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ultimately, Normand helped reinforce Marie-Vincent\u2019s ability to act, whether in terms of human and financial resources, governance or partnerships with other organisations, leaving a lasting legacy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dominique D\u00e9carie<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dominique D\u00e9carie joined the Marie-Vincent Foundation board and the Marie-Vincent Centre d\u2019expertise board in 2009, later serving as Chair from 2012 to 2019 before continuing one additional year as administrator.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout her tenure, Dominique proved to be a remarkable driving force for Marie-Vincent. She rallied board members around ambitious projects, fostering a spirit of collaboration, openness, and solidarity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under her leadership, the foundation evolved significantly and expanded its range of services. Dominique spearheaded two major initiatives: the launch of services for adolescents and the rollout of prevention programs for children, both critical advancements to better support young victims with a network of professionals, all across the province of Quebec.<\/span><\/p>\n

Deeply devoted to Marie-Vincent\u2019s mission, she thoughtfully led numerous fundraising campaigns and organized unifying events, all while strengthening ties with the community.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her clear vision, rigour, and sense of service helped establish the essential resources needed to sustain our projects. She remains a true inspiration for those who had the chance of working alongside her.<\/span><\/p>\n

Claude Gu\u00e9vin<\/span><\/h2>\n

For nearly two decades, Claude Gu\u00e9vin served as a board member for the Marie-Vincent Foundation as well as its Centre d\u2019expertise, leaving an invaluable mark on our organisation.<\/span><\/p>\n

As Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, he played a central role in several major transformations, bringing precision, strategic vision, and unwavering commitment to the cause.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the mid-1990s, his economic expertise and talent for social innovation quickly allowed him to see Marie-Vincent\u2019s potential for expansion. From 1995 onward, he helped revamp the funding strategy, solidifying the organisation\u2019s financial foundation and paving the way for an ambitious future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout his journey, Claude stood out as a key driver of development. He orchestrated the launch of innovative projects, promoted transparency, and strengthened Marie-Vincent\u2019s reputation for philanthropic governance. His initiative led to the birth of a support program for social-impact projects and strategic partnerships, with leaders in both the economic and community sectors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Claude was also a strong advocate for Marie-Vincent\u2019s best practices. At a symposium in 2001, he formulated a series of recommendations that resulted in the creation of an independent audit committee, a structure that, to this day, remains vital to our credibility and the trust of our partners.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marie-Vincent would not be what it is today without his intelligence and determination.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sources of Rigor and Excellence<\/span><\/h2>\n

Through their hard work and spirit of collaboration, these passionate individuals paved the way for a safer, fairer, and more supportive future for young people. We owe them greatly.<\/span><\/p>\n
