The event, made possible thanks to financial support from the Public Health Agency of Canada, brought together professionals from the community, education, health, and social services sectors\u2014all united by the same goal: strengthening the prevention of sexual violence against children and youth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"698\" data-end=\"955\">The discussions were meaningful and forward-thinking. Conferences, panels, interactive booths, and informal exchanges provided opportunities to share inspiring practices, reflect on current challenges, and strengthen ties between stakeholders on the ground.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"989\"><strong data-start=\"957\" data-end=\"989\">A Rich and Inspiring Program<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"1709\">Hosted by Lisa Clowery, President and CEO of Marie-Vincent, who served as master of ceremonies throughout the day, the program began with the opening panel, <em data-start=\"1148\" data-end=\"1221\">\u201cPrevention from Different Perspectives: Mobilizing, Training, Acting.\u201d<\/em> Moderated by Simon Derome, the conversation featured \u00c9lise Bonneville, Director of the <em data-start=\"1309\" data-end=\"1335\">Collectif petite enfance<\/em>; George Tarabulsy, Full Professor at Universit\u00e9 Laval\u2019s School of Psychology and Scientific Director at the Centre de recherche universitaire sur les jeunes et les familles (CRUJeF); and St\u00e9phanie Gareau, Vice-President, Youth Mandate at the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse (CDPDJ), for a discussion on complementary prevention approaches.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1711\" data-end=\"1832\">Two workshop blocks then allowed participants to discover concrete, inspiring initiatives led by committed organizations.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"1856\"><strong data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"1856\">Morning Workshops:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"1858\" data-end=\"2330\">\n<li data-start=\"1858\" data-end=\"2027\">\n<p data-start=\"1860\" data-end=\"2027\"><em data-start=\"1860\" data-end=\"1943\">Preventing the Early Sexualization of Children Is Also Preventing Sexual Violence<\/em> \u2013 Francine Duquet, retired professor of sexology, Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2028\" data-end=\"2111\">\n<p data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2111\"><em data-start=\"2030\" data-end=\"2097\">Neurodiversity and Sexuality Education: Discover the Iris Project<\/em> \u2013 L\u2019Anonyme<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2112\" data-end=\"2243\">\n<p data-start=\"2114\" data-end=\"2243\"><em data-start=\"2114\" data-end=\"2225\">Boussole Program: Preventing Sexual Violence Among 6\u201312-Year-Olds in Community, Recreation, and Camp Settings<\/em> \u2013 Marie-Vincent<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2244\" data-end=\"2330\">\n<p data-start=\"2246\" data-end=\"2330\"><em data-start=\"2246\" data-end=\"2312\">Mi-temps Project: Preventing Sexual and Cyber Violence in Sports<\/em> \u2013 Marie-Vincent<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2356\"><strong data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2356\">Afternoon Workshops:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul data-start=\"2358\" data-end=\"2878\">\n<li data-start=\"2358\" data-end=\"2474\">\n<p data-start=\"2360\" data-end=\"2474\"><em data-start=\"2360\" data-end=\"2456\">Prevention and Intervention in the Context of Sexual Exploitation: Sharing Knowledge and Tools<\/em> \u2013 Marie-Vincent<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2475\" data-end=\"2642\">\n<p data-start=\"2477\" data-end=\"2642\"><em data-start=\"2477\" data-end=\"2583\">Children\u2019s Literature as a Powerful Tool for Positive, Inclusive, and Comprehensive Sexuality Education!<\/em> \u2013 Nathalie Ringuette, youth worker and children\u2019s author<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2643\" data-end=\"2752\">\n<p data-start=\"2645\" data-end=\"2752\"><em data-start=\"2645\" data-end=\"2734\">Voies Project: Paving the Way for Prevention with Children Requiring Additional Support<\/em> \u2013 Marie-Vincent<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2753\" data-end=\"2878\">\n<p data-start=\"2755\" data-end=\"2878\"><em data-start=\"2755\" data-end=\"2865\">Cyberheroes: How to Make Teens Allies in Preventing Online Violence Against Girls, Women, and LGBTQ+ People?<\/em> \u2013 Les 3 sex*<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-start=\"2880\" data-end=\"2926\"><strong data-start=\"2880\" data-end=\"2926\">A Closing Panel on Secondary Victimization<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2928\" data-end=\"3490\">The day concluded with a socio-judicial panel on a fundamental issue: secondary victimization. Isabelle Negri-Corbeil, Head of Service at Youth Protection Services \u2013 Evaluation\/Orientation Physical and Sexual Abuse; Annie Th\u00e9riault, Captain and Head of the Specialized Sexual Violence Unit (SSVS), Criminal Investigations Division at the S\u00fbret\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec; and Me Kim Emond, Crown Prosecutor at the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP), shared best practices and insights to better support young victims throughout the judicial and social processes.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"3492\" data-end=\"3546\"><strong data-start=\"3492\" data-end=\"3546\">Participant Profile: A Diverse and Engaged Network<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3548\" data-end=\"3681\">Notably, 89% of participants were attending the symposium for the first time, reflecting a growing interest in these critical issues.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3683\" data-end=\"3716\">Highlights from the on-site data:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3718\" data-end=\"4152\">\n<li data-start=\"3718\" data-end=\"3793\">\n<p data-start=\"3720\" data-end=\"3793\">43% of participants were from Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie, followed by 29% from Montr\u00e9al<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3794\" data-end=\"3866\">\n<p data-start=\"3796\" data-end=\"3866\">The most represented sectors were community and education (32% each)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3867\" data-end=\"3932\">\n<p data-start=\"3869\" data-end=\"3932\">A majority had over 10 years of experience working with youth<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"3933\" data-end=\"4152\">\n<p data-start=\"3935\" data-end=\"4152\">Common professional roles included: special education teacher, social worker, youth worker, psychologist, educational advisor, sexologist, and practitioners in youth settings, educational support, or police contexts<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"4154\" data-end=\"4246\">These figures illustrate the breadth and richness of expertise mobilized throughout the day.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"4248\" data-end=\"4287\"><strong data-start=\"4248\" data-end=\"4287\">Prevention: An Essential Investment<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4289\" data-end=\"4504\">This symposium reaffirmed that prevention is a vital pillar for building a safer and more compassionate society. Prevention means acting early, raising awareness, educating, and creating safe environments for youth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4506\" data-end=\"5301\">However, for these efforts to have a lasting impact, they must be supported by adequate resources. The needs are great, solutions exist, and the expertise is here. This was clearly demonstrated by the organizations present in the exhibit space, who showcased tools, programs, and approaches that truly make a difference on the ground. Among them: CAVAC Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie, CPIVAS, SPVM, CHSSN, the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise des organismes communautaires Famille (FQOCF), Na\u00eetre et grandir, the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise de la d\u00e9ficience intellectuelle (SQDI), the Association des Haltes-Garderies communautaires du Qu\u00e9bec (AHGCQ), \u00c9ditions \u00c9motion, the Conseil de la Nation Atikamekw, the Institut de p\u00e9diatrie sociale en communaut\u00e9, and the Regroupement des Auberges du c\u0153ur, alongside Marie-Vincent\u2019s own kiosks.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"5303\" data-end=\"5341\"><strong data-start=\"5303\" data-end=\"5341\">A Warm and Friendly End to the Day<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"5343\" data-end=\"5650\">The day wrapped up on a friendly note with a networking cocktail, giving participants the chance to continue exchanging ideas.
