It is with great gratitude that we mark the retirement of Mireille Cyr, PhD, professor in the Department of Psychology at Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, director of the Centre interdisciplinaire sur les probl\u00e8mes conjugaux et les agressions sexuelles (CRIPCAS)<\/a> and co-holder of the Marie-Vincent Interuniversity Research Chair on Child Sexual Violence<\/a>. Mireille has devoted her career to deepening our understanding of the issues surrounding sexual violence against young people, positioning Marie-Vincent at the leading edge of knowledge and practice in this field.<\/p>\n

A priceless contribution for Marie-Vincent<\/strong><\/p>\n

With her partner Martine H\u00e9bert, Mireille Cyr founded the Marie-Vincent Research Chair. Her scientific rigour, dedication and passion have led to significant advances in research into the effects of sexual violence on young people. Her work has contributed to the scientific literature and directly impacted the strategies and interventions put in place to support victims and their families. Mireille was awarded the Prix Marie-Andr\u00e9e-Bertrand 2020 for being one of the most influential researchers in the world for her work on the mothers of children victims of sexual violence and the NICHD protocol for victims, a non-suggestive interview protocol she helped to have adopted by the \u00c9cole Nationale de police du Qu\u00e9bec.<\/p>\n

With over 200 scientific contributions and participation in international conferences, Mireille has succeeded in raising awareness and mobilizing the global scientific community around the issues of sexual violence. She has also been an inspiring mentor to many young researchers and professionals, generously sharing her knowledge and experience.<\/p>\n

Mireille Cyr’s retirement was accompanied by the presentation of the 100th Sucr\u00e9-Sal\u00e9, an in-house activity cherished by Marie-Vincent. This regular event aims to highlight and inform staff members about research projects and initiatives relating to sexual violence against young people. This special edition of Sucr\u00e9-Sal\u00e9 presented the highlights of the needs analysis for Marie-Vincent’s project to prevent sexual violence and online violence among young athletes.<\/p>\n
