Marie-Vincent was a key player throughout the conference, thanks to the opening remarks of our Executive Director St\u00e9phanie Gareau and the workshops given on October 17 by our colleagues from the Prevention and Training services as well as the Clinical services team. The active participation of some twenty Marie-Vincent employees reinforced our organization\u2019s commitment to the event.<\/p>\n

During her speech, St\u00e9phanie Gareau emphasized Marie-Vincent\u2019s accomplishments in recent years, particularly since the pandemic. She highlighted the tremendous efforts devoted to bring all our partners together at a Marie-Vincent location, with the ultimate objective of putting young people at the very centre of our collective action:<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to our partners\u2019 collaboration, our donors\u2019 generosity and, above all, the day-to-day work of a team of close to 100 experienced and committed professionals, we press forward with our mission to support young victims of sexual violence by providing them with the services they need under the same roof.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Prevention and Training services workshop<\/u><\/p>\n

Project leaders for Marie-Vincent trainers Marie C. Petrone<\/strong><\/a> and Vickie Gauthier-Lefebvre<\/strong><\/a> as well as Prevention officer Myriam Le Blanc-\u00c9lie<\/strong><\/a>, alongside our Research Chair researcher Isabelle V. Daignault<\/strong><\/a> and research assistant Tessa Noyon<\/strong><\/a>, presented the Pile ou face<\/em><\/strong> project that aims to prevent sexual exploitation and human trafficking by building self-esteem and promoting egalitarian relationships. It was developed for people in the health care and social services sector as well as those involved with community organizations supporting teenagers aged 12 to 17.<\/p>\n

The goals of this workshop were to describe the needs analysis process with regard to sexual exploitation prevention, establish the key concepts of prevention using scientific literature and identify the challenges and conditions for success of the project in terms of implementation and assessment.<\/p>\n

The Pile ou face<\/em><\/strong> project was developed to raise awareness and provide training to at-risk youth and case workers on topics that include recognizing risk situations, self-affirmation and concepts of intimacy and egalitarian relationships. It also features a training to help professionals hone their intervention skills.<\/p>\n

Clinical services conference<\/u>
\nEvery service under one roof at the Marie-Vincent Child & Youth Advocacy Centre (CAEJ): a coordinated approach and specialized clinical services for children, adolescents and their families\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this conference, Clinical services coordinators Laurence Tremblay<\/strong> and Isabelle Martinet<\/strong> alongside Assistant Director of Clinical services Laurence Michaud<\/strong> presented one of Marie-Vincent\u2019s biggest projects in recent years: the extensive review of our Sexual violence intervention program.<\/p>\n

This program provides children victim of sexual violence and their families with immediate support followed by an assessment to identify which services are appropriate, such as psychosocial support, trauma focused psychotherapy and group therapeutic intervention. Marie-Vincent\u2019s team is specially trained to deal with sexual violence and collaborates on interuniversity research and with various partners in sociolegal, medical and police services. The SVIP revision led to the introduction of new services such as psychosocial support for young victims, immediate intervention services for families, group therapy for various age groups and increased support for parents.<\/p>\n

Their presentation emphasized our coordinated approach and wide-ranging expertise in caring for young victims of sexual violence, ensuring that they are provided with any service they need under the same roof.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, Marie-Vincent will continue its relentless work to build a protective community for younger generations across Qu\u00e9bec.
